THE HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF DARUL ULOOM
Darul Uloom is the culmination of the
ceaseless efforts of the Muslims of Bharuch to have their district dotted with
a religious educational institution. There
lived in Karmad, a village adjoining Bharuch, an instinctively munificent and
temperamentally righteous tradesman called Haji Musa Mohammed Matliwala, who
migrated to South Africa for the purpose of business where this sagacious man
was celebrated for his veritable and honest dealings.
His heavy heart brimming
with concern for the UMMAT keenly realized, at the instance of divine inspiration,
that if sciences related with prophet hood and ISLAM are to be preserved and
their advancement is aimed at, there is no alternative to Islamic religious
education upon which the safety and survival of Indian muslims hinges.
To devise the ways and means of warding off internal threat and defending
against external mischief, acquisition of comprehensive religious sciences
related with prophet hood in true perspective and establishment of religious
institution in this varied city, seemed the only way out.
Hence, exclusively relying upon ALLAH, he resolved irrevocably, to scale
this sublime goal.
IMPARTING OF EDUCATION BEGINS
Without
any further loss of time or procrastination he acted upon his plan in
consultation with the renowned ULEMA of the surrounding areas like MAULANA
AHMEDULLAH of Rander, the Shaikhul
Hadith of Jamiya Hussenia Rander etc and zealously initiated few students on the
15th of Zilhaj 1395 AH/1960 AD on 14 acres of land which boasted of
two spacious bungalows and a few small structures on it.
Purchased for this purpose to west of Bharuch on the Bank of Narmada, on
the road called Eidgah, because of its association with Eidgah built in 726 AH
during Taghlaq period. Darul Uloom
is now juxtaposed with Eidgah.
HISTORICAL TURN
From
the day of its foundation to 1987 all the expenses of Madressa was borne by
descendents of its founder Late Haji Ismail Bux and Haji Ahmed Bux from their own pockets.
These gentlemen shouldered 100% responsibility of the Madressa.
Thereafter Matliwala family, the members of the consultative body, the
teachers and well wishers of the Madressa veered around the view that the Madressa
needs extension and expansion to widen the range of its benefits.
It was deemed fit to raise the number of students, teachers and the
office staff in accordance with the development and to construct buildings and
broaden educational facilities. At
the same time it was thought undesirable to pass on the extra financial burden
of this proposed development program to the said gentlemen.
It was
proposed that since the Madressa is bequeath to general and common Muslims,
let them too share and participate in this noble cause.
The Bux brothers may not only adhere to their previous tradition, but
may even come forward with larger share if possible.
May Allah be praised, this proposal was approved and implemented.
In 1987, an appeal to contribute generously was published in the local
Gujarati News-papers.
FRACTIFICTION OF HOLY TREE
In
short this small plant bore with seasonal hazards and survived as a deeply
rooted well stemmed and shadowy and fruiting blessed tree having many branches
which are not miserly when it comes to bearing fruits and flowering but (under
order from its LORD, it always bears fruit)
branches here mean financial, administrative and educational divisions,
sections and departments.
